Algebra & Equations
Find the Missing Number Solve Simple Equations Graphing - Graphing Vocabulary - How to Plot Points on a Coordinate Plane - Choosing a Scale - This skill allows for the creation of precise and concise graphs. Here are the steps. 1) Write out your data in a table of values or a list of coordinates so that you can see all of the points that you will be placing on the graph. 2) Look at the highest and lowest values that you will need to place. These show the range that your graph must cover. 3) Look for patterns in the x-values. Is it going up by ones, twos, etc. Pick a scale that will allow you to clearly display all of these values. 4) Look for patterns in the y-values. Is it going up by a certain number? Are there a lot of multiples of a particular number? Use this information to decide on a scale that will allow you to showcase all of these values. Measures of Central Tendency Mean, Median and Mode |
Variable - a letter that has replaced a number
Numerical Coefficient - a number that is multiplied by a variable Constant - a number that is added to or subtracted from a variable Table of Values - a way of showing numerous outcomes of an expression; one side will contain the values of the variable (normally 0 - 5 or -2 to +2) and the other will contain the values that you would get when you sub those numbers into the given expression Cartesian Plane - a two-dimensional grid with positive and negative values set along two perpendicular lines. X-Axis - the horizontal axis in a cartesian plane; values to the right of the intersection are positive and the values to the left are negative Y-Axis - the vertical axis in a cartesian plane; values above the intersection are positive and the values below are negative Coordinates - a value along the x-axis and a value along the y-axis that, together, identify the location of a point; they are always written with the x value first, and then the y value [ex. (x,y) or (-2,5)] Mean - commonly known as the average; to find it you add all values together and divide by the number of values Median - arrange all values from smallest to largest and find the middle number; if there are two values, find the mean of these two values Mode - the value that occurs most frequently in a set |
